What is Trauma?

The way this trauma therapist sees it, if it’s something that made a splash in your life, you’re still dealing with it...

…it’s something that’s worth pointing our gentle lamp of curiosity toward.

We shouldn’t see everything bad we experience as traumatic. Dealing with things we wish hadn’t happened is simply the routine natural human experience.

However, if any of the below seem familiar, you may have been through some heavier stuff for us to look into more.

  • tough to recall certain memories most people remember, or some things you know you should remember but that seem foggy

  • very intense need to avoid certain harmless things for some reason that you don’t understand

  • predictably "triggered" by specific persons, places, memories, dates, sounds things or smells

  • keep ending up in the same dangerous situations or in relationships with dangerous people

  • memories of some event or experience that you wish would stop (“flashbacks”)

  • moods are all over the place, and it seems nothing medical can help

  • sleep is awful
